Easy Carmels
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 pound 2-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- dash of salt
- 1 cup white corn syrup
- 1 can (15 oz or 1-1/3 cup) Bordens sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Melt butter or margarine in heavy 3qt sauce pan.
- Add brown sugar and salt, stirring till thoroughly combined.
- Blend in corn syrup.
- Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches 255-260° - about 12 to 15 minutes
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
- Pour into buttered pan - cool thoroughly, then cut and wrap in wax paper.
